Marketing Automation can be used to send email campaigns to groups of patients based on certain criteria from within SimpleClinic, criteria that cannot be sent to a third party email marketing provider (ESP).

SimpleClinic Marketing Automation is not designed to replace your existing marketing integration (ActiveCampaign, MailerLite or MailChimp). These integrations would still be used for more widespread email campaigns such as monthly newsletters to your complete list of subscribers.


Please note that Marketing Automation cannot be enabled if you have more than one Marketing Integration already connected (ActiveCampaign, MailerLite or MailChimp). You will need to select one integration prior to Marketing Automation being enabled, and disconnect any additional integrations. 


If you are also connected to the MailChimp marketing integration - it is very important to read this information. 


To enable Marketing Automation - go to Business Setup -> Integrations -> select Connect underneath Marketing Automation. At this point, SimpleClinic will do several checks before Marketing Automation is enabled. 



If the Marketing Automation connection has failed and is in an error state, you will receive an email notification and the below will show on the integration page. 

You will still be able to create campaigns but they will not be processed. 


If this occurs, do the following: 

  • Disconnect the SimpleClinic Marketing Automation
  • Check your other marketing integration (ActiveCampaign, MailerLite or MailChimp) 
    • Confirm your ListID is correct 
    • Confirm your API key is correct 
  • Reconnect the SimpleClinic Marketing Automation 


The above steps are important because a patient's unsubscribe information needs to be managed across both SimpleClinic and your other marketing integration. Both need to be set correctly to ensure that patients will be unsubscribed from all marketing communications.
